GNSS Application Workshop was co-organized by National Remote Sensing Center of China (NRSCC) and European GNSS Supervisory Authority (GSA) on October 20/21, 2009 in Beijing. Ms. Zhao Jing, the head of Navigational division of NRSCC and Mr. Boris Kennes, Galileo Application officer from GSA, co-chaired the meeting and gave a warm welcome to all participants. Mr. Daniel Ludwig and Mr. Rainer Horn the group remembers of Dragonfly project and more than fifty participators from related organizations and enterprises, presented this workshop.

Mr. Boris Kennes firstly presented the growing of Galileo and EGNOS programmes in Europe and their effect in China. Mr. Kennes introduced Galileo and EGNOS programmes by sorts of graphics and data which had a rapid increase in different application areas. There would be more and more planed projects developed by European and Chinese institutions and enterprises. Professor Dongkai YANG, gave a description on GNSS development scope in China and related Chinese processing research and application. Then, some Chinese experts introduced Compass (BD) global navigation satellite system developing information and the recent analysis result of Chinese GNSS market research.

During this application workshop, both Chinese and European experts expressed their interest on specific application area. Chinese experts gave particular presentations about the research details in the following four fields: maritime, LBS, transportation and aviation. European experts took speech about Dragonfly project plan and some research that would be began recently. Moreover, European experts mentioned that it would be a huge application market in China.

The other participators from navigation satellite organizations and enterprises had an entire view of China-EU cooperation mode and strong interest on application research and project. They communicated with experts from both sides and seek potential opportunities to develop related business in the future. Through this workshop, participators who gained various details about GNSS application and Galileo programme understood well about application market demand and request. Chinese and European experts agreed that the project of GNSS application had potential and extensive cooperation opportunities. NRSCC and GSA management hoped that the research & develop organizations related navigation satellite and application sectors establishing smooth communication and promoting their cooperation in next stage.
