On April 25,2007, Jianlin Cao, vice minister, MOST of China held talks with Mr. Mathias Ruete, director-general of EC Energy and Transportation. In the meeting, both sides exchanged views deeply on the Galileo cooperation program, near-zero emission power generation technology, and the seventh China-Europe Energy Cooperation Meeting.
Both sides think highly of all the fruits and good developing prospects achieved from China-Europe scientific and technological cooperation. Since 1981, under the joint efforts of both sides, China-Europe scientific and technological cooperation system is improving daily, scale of cooperation expand steadily, and the contents of cooperation have become the important element of developing China-Europe comprehensive strategic partnership. Some major projects, such as ITER, Galileo, and so on, upgrade the China-Europe strategic partnership relation. At present, cooperation in science and technology has become the major topic of the annual meeting between Chinese and European leaders, and further consolidated and strengthened bilateral cooperation in science and strategic position.
