Welcome to the Toulouse Space Show

In 2008, France is hosting two major conferences - the European Navigation Conference – Global Navigation Satellite Systems (ENC-GNSS) and the European Frequency and Time Forum (EFTF).
The key players in the Midi-Pyrenees region decided that these two gatherings (ENC-GNSS and EFTF) should be associated with an international symposium on Space Applications and an exhibition covering all application domains, in Toulouse, a worldwide centre of excellence in this field. This would make it THE big international event for Space applications.
The operation will take place from 22 to 25 April 2008, centred on five major events:
The annual European Navigation Conference-Global Navigation Satellite Systems, ENC-GNSS 08 (23-25 April 2008). This conference is hosted by a different European country every year.
The European Frequency and Time Forum, EFTF 08, (23-5 April 2008), which is also organised by a different European country every year.
An international conference on Space applications, SPACEAPPLI 08 (22-25 April 2008, a follow-up to the conference organised by CNES in December 2006), which will become an annual event in Toulouse.
An international exhibition for the industry along with business meetings (22-25 April 2008) centred on these applications, which will also become an annual event in Toulouse.
Associated events for the general public, students and young people, to promote the value of Space applications in civil life, will be organised in parallel throughout the week.
There will be sponsoring opportunities for the major private industrial partners.

Economic context
The Midi-Pyrenees region is at the heart of the international-level business cluster specialising in Aeronautics, Space and On Board Systems. The sector employs 12,000 people, representing half the country's employees and a quarter of Europe's employees in the Space domain. That is why the Midi-Pyrenees region is Europe's leader in the design and production of Space systems and applications.
Many teams working in the area of satellite navigation domain are already well established in Toulouse. They work on Europe's two major programmes, Egnos and Galileo, whether as institutions (CNES, DGAC, ESA etc.) or at the industrial level (Thales, EADS Astrium and 150 small to medium-size businesses) as well as in research.
To maximise the spin-off from satellite navigation activities and to create a real technological and economic impetus, the Midi Pyrenees Region, the General Council of the Haute-Garonne, Greater Toulouse, SICOVAL and the French State have recently signed a joint agreement. The local authorities have agreed to turn the Toulouse metropolis and the Midi Pyrenees into a territory for experimentation specialising in applications and services related to Galileo.
