Technical Coordination Meeting between BeiDou (COMPASS) and Galileo Systems was held in Beijing from January 25th to 28th.

At the age of multi-systems, it’s necessary for Global Navigation Satellite Systems to realize compatibility and interoperability to satisfy the high-quality service demand of users. China has attached great importance to develop the compatibility and interoperability among navigation satellite systems. In recent years, several rounds of technical exchanging and coordinating meeting have taken place between BeiDou and GPS, GLONASS and Galileo systems.

Compatibility refers to the ability of multiple satellite navigation system to be used separately or together, without the generated interference to affect the navigation performance of each system, while interoperability the ability of open services of multiple satellite navigation system to be used together to provide better capabilities at the user level than would be achieved by relying solely on one service, without significantly increasing the complexity of receivers.
